Doug Kemp was born in Bath in September 1939 because of wartime evacuation and was raised in the east end of London. He still remembers the blitz and even a German V1 rocket flying over his home in Walthamstow. He has a unique style of post industrialist art that draws influence from personal experience, the war years, the USA (particularly Chicago), comic book art, pop art, post industrialist (modern art), film noir, art-deco and gangster movies made in the 1930s & 1940s.
