Lucy, laying on her towel and presented in a natural naked state, is sunbathing whilst listening to the radio, she seems quite relaxed and appears unsurprised by the presence of the viewer.
If anything, she actually appears slightly inquisitive at the intrusion and in no hurry to cover up.

Doug states that he sometimes portrays nudes almost as a tip of the hat to the history of art but almost despairs at the no-holds-barred vulgarity of what many ‘pin-up magazines’ have now become.

Lucy was the first canvas painting to be converted into the limited edition Giclee print format thanks to a request from a buyer.
