The triangular device containing the title subjects of this piece is as if it was an icon sitting on an Altar, with an Altarpiece background or it could even be considered as being a picture on a mantle piece.

The triangle forms the apex when the three works are viewed in the vertical stack.

The Monuments is a mini-collection of three paintings.  Each of the three works can be viewed as a piece in its own right yet they form a triptych.

A triptych is a three-panel artwork that is traditionally used in painting, sculpture, or photography.

Each of the Monuments paintings has abundant Art Deco elements and the three pieces each have distinct individual characteristics that determine their order in this vertical series.

Although Michelangelo influenced it, there is artistic licence in the portrayal of the swimming costumes with the mirror images and for the overall balance of the work.
