Doug was born in Bath because of wartime evacuation in 1939, and raised in Walthamstow in the east end of London. His unique fine art style draws reference from personal experience, the USA (particularly Chicago) comic book art, pop art, post-industrialist (modern art), film noir, art-deco and gangster movies made in the 1930s & 1940s.
