Based on an image of the actress Juliet Ann Prowse. It was during the filming of Can-Can with Frank Sinatra in 1959 that she captured the international spotlight. Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev visited the set of the film, and after Prowse performed a rather saucy can-can for the Russian leader, he proclaimed her dance immoral. The publicity brought Prowse considerable attention in the United States. From there, her career accelerated.
Doug Kemp was born in 1939 because of wartime evacuation and raised in Walthamstow in the east end of London. Doug has a modernist style of fine art which draws reference from personal experience, the USA (New York & Chicago) comic book hero art, pop art, film noir, art deco and gangster movies made in the 1930s & 1940s.
